The Algerian Ministry of Commerce suspended the activities of the famous international firms on February 25, for «illegal exercise of accounting, financial and legal consulting», in addition to «opposition to control», according to the local agency APS.

The measure, which in principle will last for 2 months, affects these firms that are part of the largest in the world in their sector («The Bigs Four») and have been exercising their activity in Algeria for decades as in all the large economies of the world.

The measure highlights the strong government interventionism in the country’s economic activity and worries its clients, the most important companies from different sectors that are called to «invest in Algeria», where «measures of openness and increase of legal security» are repeatedly announced, such as those announced by the government of President Teboune in its new «Loi des Investissements»  in the process of approval.
