ITALY STRENGTHENS ITS ECONOMIC POSITION IN ALGERIA.

France is sending to Algeria a large delegation made up of Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne, accompanied by 16 ministers of the French government.
The delegation, which follows that of President Macron at the end of August, and includes the ministers of economy, interior, foreign affairs, labor, energy transition, national education and culture.
Apart from the recurring themes between France and its former colony, the visit has a marked economic character: France wants to maintain and strengthen its position of economic and cultural privilege in Algeria.
The earthquake caused by the Spanish scare by changing the strategic position that was maintained for 40 years on Western Sahara, has given European countries the opportunity to rethink their positions in Algeria, taking advantage of the “gap” left by Spain; thus the visits of senior German, Portuguese and Italian officials are followed by that of France. Europe demonstrates once again that foreign policy is defined by the national interests of the great powers, and that each country must act in defence of its own interests and position.
