On 09/03/2021 the Algerian government approved D.E. 21-94 which establishes a recoding of raw materials, products and goods intended for import and resale.

The main novelty is that the D.E. prohibits the import under the same number of Mercantile Registry, of different families of products,requiring a secondary registration for the second product and, when there are more than 2, since there can be no more secondary registrations, new companies will have to be created, one per family of products: this means for some importers the creation of multiple companies, more than 10 in some cases.

European companies have met in Algiers on 21/06/2021 and through the EU delegation in Algeria, have asked the government to

1. extend the terms of validity of current authorizations until 31/12/2021
2. can have as many child records as are necessary to maintain the current activity,
3. the codification of articles is re-arranged to «rationalize» the allocation of families.

The European companies concerned are advised to submit a letter of endorsement to the one presented by the EU delegation, before the Mº de Comercio and the CNRC (Commercial Register).
