This week (15/02/2021) the Bellara steel plant entered production in the Jijel wilaya, the macro project of construction of the largest steel mill that was built in recent years in the world, and whose technical direction was brilliantly executed by our client IDOM.

With a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, it has a workforce of 1,500 workers and belongs to the Algerian public economic company quatarí AQS.

The cross is the steelmaker of El Hadjar, which has a workforce of 4,500 workers, this plant, which entered production in 1,969, has a production capacity of 4 million tons, but never reached 1.5 and in recent years only 600 tons.

The plant has been in practice for years and is a real sinkhole of public money and a constant focus of labor conflict.
